UV Digital Printing Services for Industrial and Promotional Applications

Manufacturers in the medical device, injection molding, and metal fabrication industries increasingly need decoration methods that meet regulatory and functional requirements. Screen printing and pad printing address part of that equation, but flat, multi-material parts often require a different approach.

At UniversalPromo, Inc. (UPI), we built our digital printing operation around this exact gap. Since 1972, we have supported OEMs and design engineers who need consistent, production-grade decoration on plastic, metals, glass, and other hard goods. While our pad printing services cover the curved and irregular parts, our UV digital printing on rigid substrates covers everything with a flat surface.

UPI’s Digital Printing Equipment and Process

Selecting the right decoration method depends heavily on part geometry. We operate two distinct digital printing technologies to accommodate both flat and round item profiles.

UV Flatbed Inkjet Printer: Substrate Range and Imprint Area

Our UV flatbed inkjet printer prints directly onto rigid, flat-surfaced items without plates or pre-press setup. We run full-color artwork in a single pass and cure it instantly under UV light, so parts leave the machine ready to handle. This is the core of our industrial digital printing line, allowing us to take on prototype runs and mid-volume orders with the same equipment.

Rotary Bottle Printer Capabilities

For cylindrical parts such as tubes, bottles, and drinkware, our rotary bottle printer rotates the item while the print head applies artwork around the curved surface. This extends our digital printing capabilities to round components that a flatbed setup cannot reach.

Substrate Compatibility

Achieving reliable ink adhesion on industrial materials requires careful evaluation of the surface, since adhesion failures are common when standard inks are applied to dense plastics or coated metals without testing first. That’s why our team assists with material selection and offers adhesion testing upfront. UV flatbed printing works across:

  • Plastic
  • Metal, including coated and finished surfaces
  • Glass
  • Wood
  • Canvas
  • Other hard goods

Because the ink cures under UV light rather than air-drying, adhesion holds even on dense, low-porosity materials like coated metal and glass.

Color, Resolution, and Ink Performance

Industrial components require graphics that stay legible and intact through heavy handling and harsh environments.

CMYK, Pantone, and UV Cure

Our CMYK process matches Pantone colors for brand-accurate output, and it produces full-color artwork in one run rather than layering separate setup charges. Our UV-curable ink systems are built for sharp visual output and lasting durability. The ink specifically resists scratching for parts that are handled, shipped, or installed shortly after decoration.

Applications and Industries

The versatility of our equipment allows us to serve diverse market sectors while delivering reliable decoration.

  • Medical Devices & Injection Molding: Direct-part marking, warning icons, and instructional graphics on rigid housings and plastic components.
  • Metal Fabrication & Industrial Equipment: Identification labels, schematics, and control panel graphics printed on cut sheet metal, powder-coated surfaces, and enclosures.
  • Promotional Goods & Commercial Items: Branded drinkware, corporate awards, trophies, and custom hard goods for distributors and commercial clients.

Production Considerations: Imprint Area, Substrate Thickness, and Run Sizes

Clear technical parameters help buyers self-qualify their components before submitting engineering drawings.

  • Maximum Dimensions. Our flatbed equipment supports a maximum imprint area of 28 in. x 20 in., accepting parts up to 6 in. thick.
  • Order Quantities. We support quantities optimized for small-to-medium order sizes, pilot production, and single-item prototypes without minimum order volume penalties.
  • Turnaround Expectations. We provide dependable, transparent lead times based on project complexity. Typically that means around 2 weeks for repeat orders, 3 weeks for standard new projects, and custom timelines for complex multipart jobs.

Getting Started

Tell us your substrate, dimensions, and target quantity, and we will confirm whether UV flatbed printing or rotary printing is the better match. You can also review our full range of capabilities to see how digital printing pairs with our other decoration methods.

If you’re ready to move forward, request a quote, and we will get back to you with real lead times, not just placeholders.
